KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC volleyball (17-8, 8-3) will look for its fifth straight victory on Thursday night when it welcomes in CSU Bakersfield (12-12, 5-6) for a 7 p.m. CT WAC contest in the Swinney Recreation Center.

UMKC enters the match with a 17-8 record overall and an 8-3 mark in WAC play. This season, the Roos have picked up WAC wins over CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley, California Baptist (x2), Chicago State, Seattle U and Grand Canyon (x2). On the year, UMKC has garnered four WAC Player of the Week awards, as Tyrecia Lukes (x2) and Melanie Brecka garnered offensive honors and Alex Ratzlaff was awarded the defensive honor. The 17 wins, meanwhile, are tied for third most in program history
CSU Bakersfield enters the match with a 12-12 record overall and a 5-6 mark in conference play, good for a fifth-place spot in the standings. Last Thursday, the Roos notched a long and hard fought four-set victory in a 2:21 affair at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield, Calif.
Two Roos notched double-doubles in the victory, with Alicia Harrington finishing with 11 kills, 22 digs and three blocks and Alex Ratzlaff going for 10 kills, hitting .300, 15 digs, two blocks and two aces. Tyrecia Lukes, meanwhile, was the third Roo with double-digit kills, adding 13 on a .370 hitting percentage with seven blocks.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again next Thursday when they take on Utah Valley at 7 p.m. CT on Nov. 8 at the SRC.
