Ladutska, Fries, Advance For Second Straight Day at ITA Regionals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – UMKC women’s tennis tallied two more victories on the second day of play at the ITA Regionals.

Aliona Ladutska (Minsk, Belarus) picked up the upset win, knocking off No. 11 seed Mia Jurasic from Arkansas, 6-3, 7-5, while Katie Fries (Overland Park, Kan.) also notched an upset victory as she took down the No. 17 seed Gabriela Porubin from Wichita State, 6-4, 7-6.

In Ladutska’s second match, meanwhile, she fell to No. 17 seed Debbie Vogasari, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2, while Fries fell to No. 2 seed Vladica Babic of Oklahoma, 6-2, 6-0.

In the Roos doubles match, Ladutska and Grace Ball (Wichita, Kan.) fell 8-2 to Kansas State’s No. 9 seed duo of Decker and Turco.
