The following is the seventh installment of “Roos Introducing Roos,” a multi-part series introducing the UMKC softball newcomers as told by a returning member of the squad. Noteworthy facts about head coach Meredith Smith Neal's latest additions will be unveiled on a weekly basis as the team approaches the 2018 season.
Taylor Curbow is an outgoing, comical freshman from The Colony, Texas. She was born on May 1st, 1999 and has four siblings. Her favorite movies are Mean Girls and White Chicks, which makes total sense given her personality. Her favorite singer is The Weeknd. She loves a lot of food, but her favorite type of food is Mexican. When she is not playing softball, Taylor enjoys watching Netflix (specifically Grey’s Anatomy), swimming, napping, and playing with cats. One of Taylor’s favorite memories is winning the 5A state softball tournament her senior year. She even brought her medal to UMKC with her and looks at it every day when she wakes up.
Taylor’s major at UMKC is Health Sciences. She plans to use that degree to continue on to Physicians Assistant studies. In high school, Taylor took a clinic course that allowed her to shadow different areas of the hospital. Because of that class, she realized she wanted to go into the health field and specialize in labor and delivery.
Taylor chose to come to school and play softball at UMKC for a few different reasons. Back home, she is close to Dallas, Texas, so being in Kansas City still gives her that city-feeling that she loves. She also wanted to venture out of Texas. She started this with a trip to Europe in the summer of 2017, where she played for the USAAI softball team. When Taylor came on her visit, she loved the atmosphere & campus, so she chose UMKC as her new home for the next four years.
