KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women’s basketball Director of Basketball Operations Christina Gilbert has been selected to serve on the Teamworks Basketball Leadership Committee. Gilbert joins 10 other members of the collegiate basketball community – including representatives from Duke, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Illinois and Ohio State – that will participate in the invite-only summit from July 15-17 in Durham, N.C.
Gilbert, who is entering her fourth year at UMKC, will bring a wealth of basketball knowledge experience to the group set to convene at the summit later this month. Prior to serving as the Director of Basketball Operations at UMKC, she held the Director of Operations position for Velocity Sports after serving as Senior Building Supervisor at the University of Minnesota. Gilbert played at the collegiate level for South Dakota State from 2002-06.
The exclusive symposium is designed to bring together the most progressive leaders in college basketball to share the strategies, tactics and best practices of running an elite basketball organization.

I don’t know of a more deserving person in her role as a leader in her position. Both UMKC and myself are fortunate to have her.”
Slated to address a diverse range of topics, the agenda will focus on empowering athletes and creating a holistic approach to player management. From logistics and communication to creating an environment where player engagement and wellness - both physical and emotional - are at the forefront of the program, participants will also have an opportunity to see new Teamworks platform enhancements and provide direct feedback to Teamworks executives.

In addition to the day-long “live” event, participants will also collaborate throughout the year via virtual conferences and an invitation-only online community dedicated exclusively to this group. Members will serve a one-year term on the committee, and new participants will be selected annually. However, past and current participants alike will be able to collaborate via the community, creating a growing body of knowledge.
