KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC women’s basketball team (3-11) returns home to host Central Christian College of the Bible (2-6) on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. CT for its last nonconference game of the 2017-18 season.
The Roos return to action following a 1-1 showing in the FAU Holiday Classic. The team picked up an impressive 67-50 win over Stetson in the tournament opener before taking FAU down to the wire in a tightly contested loss.
Aries Washington (Kansas City, Mo.) looks to stay hot as UMKC plays into the new year. She leads the team in averaging 17.6 points per game and ranks second on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. In the FAU Holiday Classic, Washington scored a combined 30 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the two games.
Kristen Moore (Chicago, Ill.) will also aim towards keeping up her level of play after an impressive showing in the tournament. The redshirt junior forward scored 34 points in the event in addition to collecting 12 rebounds. Moore has scored in double figures in six straight contests and the Roos will continue to rely on her presence in the post.
Team shooting has improved over the past few games for UMKC and the squad will look to continue the trend as they move one step closer to Western Athletic Conference play .The recent success has moved the Roos field goal shooting over 40% for the season.

Central Christian heads into the contest with a record of 2-6 and having played just once since Dec.11. The matchup with UMKC will serve as an exhibition for the Saints. Scoring has been somewhat of a struggle for Central Christian thus far in the season. They have been limited to 50 points or less in six of the team’s first eight games, averaging 50.6 points per game. Team depth will be tested as well for the Saints who have just six players at their disposal on the roster.
UMKC will open up WAC play on the road at UT-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. CT. The contest will be broadcast free of charge on the WAC Digital Network and will have Live Stats available.
