DENVER, Colo. – UMKC women’s cross country student-athlete Sarah Fogarty (O’Fallon, Mo.) has been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. The award is the first of her career.

“It is exciting that Sarah has won the WAC’s Athlete of the Week honor,” head coach Shameika McField commented. “It is a sign that Sarah has worked hard this past year and we are looking forward to the success she will continue to have in her last season with us.”

The two-time All-WAC performer opened the 2017 campaign at the Bob Timmons Dual Classic in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday, where she finished first among 23 competitors after sitting out a season ago. Fogarty’s winning time of 18:03.7 is a personal best for the senior.

The Roos will return to Lawrence, Kan., on Sept. 30 to compete at the Rim Rock Classic.
