LAS VEGAS, Nev. – UMKC women’s basketball player junior guard Ericka Mattingly (Wichita, Kan.) received another accolade in the 2018-19 season as she earned a spot on the All-WAC Tournament Team for her play in the 2019 WAC Tournament on Mar.13-15, the conference announced.
After earning spots on the All-WAC First Team, Newcomer Team and Defensive Team for her efforts in the regular season, Mattingly continued her hot play in the WAC Tournament as the scoring guard averaged 32.0 points, 4.5 assists and 8.0 rebounds per game in the Roos two contests. Against New Mexico State in the semifinal round, Mattingly would break UMKC’s WAC Tournament record with a 37-point performance on 13 of 26 shooting, both career highs.
Those 37 points were the most in any conference tournament outing dating back to 1995.
In the quarterfinals round, the Wichita, Kan., native would help the Roos complete a hat trick over Utah Valley on the year with a 27-point outing, which was the most by any Roos player since Kim Nezianya back in the 2013-14 campaign.
Mattingly would finish her first season as a Roo averaging 19.8 points, 6.0 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game while ranking third all-time in a single season for total points in UMKC history (614).
Nationally, the point guard ranks 29th in scoring (19.8), 11th in total assists (186) and 10th in steals per game (3.19). She is also one of seven players in the nation who have recorded multiple triple doubles on the year (2).
The Roos wrap up their 2018-19 season with a 16-15 record, which is the most wins since the 2009-10 season (16-16).
