ATLANTA, Ga. – The UMKC women’s basketball team has been awarded a spot in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. It is the third-consecutive year that the program has earned this distinction.

The Roos collect this prestigious honor after posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.523 as a team last season. This marks the fourth time in school history that UMKC has been on the WBCA’s Academic Top-25 list.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA and junior/community college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2016-17 season is the 22nd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

UMKC will return two starters to a roster that features seven seniors in 2017-18 under the direction of first-year head coach Jacie Hoyt.
