KSMO-TV, KMCI to Air 21 UMKC Men's Basketball Contests

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC Athletics announced on Saturday that all 14 Roos men’s basketball home contests will air on KSMO-TV or KMCI in the Kansas City area this season. In addition, seven road games will also be available for fans to watch on KSMO. Neil Harwell will continue as the play-by-play announcer and will be joined by Joel Goldberg, or UMKC’s all-time leading scorer Michael Watson, as the color analyst.

KSMO-TV (Channel 62), in conjunction with Niles Media Group, will air the following games: Nov. 26 at UT-Martin, Dec. 6 at Southeast Missouri, Dec. 28 vs. Avila, Jan. 2 at USC Upstate, Jan. 6 vs. UT Rio Grande Valley, Jan. 11 at Utah Valley, Jan. 20 vs. Grand Canyon, Jan. 23 vs. William Jewell, Feb. 1 at Grand Canyon, Feb. 10 vs. Utah Valley, Feb. 22 at UT Rio Grande Valley and Feb. 24 at New Mexico State. The station also aired the first two home games against Haskell and Loyola.

Seven games – Nov. 30 vs. South Dakota, Dec. 19 vs. Central Michigan, Dec. 22 vs. South Dakota State, Jan. 18 vs. CSU Bakersfield, Jan. 27 vs. New Mexico State, Feb. 8 vs. Seattle U and Feb. 15 vs. Chicago State – will be broadcast on KMCI (Channel 38).

“We are excited to continue the broadcast our men’s basketball games on KSMO-TV for the 2017-18 season,” Director of Athletics Carla Wilson said. “With home and away contests being broadcast on KSMO and KMCI in conjunction with Niles Media Group, it will allow our entire fan base a broader opportunity to follow UMKC basketball.”  

Additionally, many games will be cleared across the nation Cox Sports Television (CST in New Orleans, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona and a few other states), Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, and Altitude TV (Denver and Rocky Mountain Area).
