KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s basketball program announced Wednesday the signing of junior college transfer Jamel Allen (Brentwood, N.Y.) to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Jamel to our program,” head coach Kareem Richardson said. “He is a talented wing/forward that brings a combination of size, athleticism and skill to our team. He brings a winning pedigree coming from Indian Hills Community College, a high-level junior college program with a tradition of winning.”

Allen is a 6-7 forward from Indian Hills Community College by way of Brentwood High School in Brentwood, N.Y. Last season, he made an appearance in 33 games for the Warriors while making two starts. Allen averaged 8.5 points per game as a true freshman, helping his team to a 29-5 record. As a team, the Warriors secured regional and district titles before earning a berth to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

So far this season, Allen has helped his team to a pair of wins over Johnson County Community College and Mesa Community College, averaging just under 11 points per contest and four rebounds.

Allen will join the UMKC program for the 2018-19 season.
