DENVER, Colo. – Noah Knight (Olathe, Kan.) of the UMKC men's basketball program has been named to the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as the representative of the Western Athletic Conference. He will serve from June 1, 2017 through May 31, 2019.
The Olathe, Kansas, native and representatives from the NCAA's other Division I conferences meet three times during each calendar year, with a fall meeting typically in November in Indianapolis, a winter meeting in conjunction with the NCAA Convention in January and a four-day summer meeting in July. The appointment generally entails numerous other conference calls and webinars throughout the year.
"The WAC would like to congratulate Noah on his selection to the Division I National SAAC," said Marlon Edge, WAC Assistant Commissioner of Compliance and WAC SAAC liaison. "We are very excited to have him representing our membership and WAC student-athletes for the next two years. He will be an excellent representative for the league at the conference and national levels."
The mission of the Division I SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image. Knight will be responsible for keeping other WAC SAAC members educated on the relevant issues at the NCAA level.
"I'm extremely excited to be joining the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee," Knight said. "I am beyond grateful to be able to represent a school that has done so much for me through academics and athletics."
Knight competed for the Roos from 2014-15 before his playing career ended early in his sophomore season due to multiple concussions. He has remained an integral part of the program as a manager.
