KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women’s basketball team will be in action for the first time in the 2017-18 season, hosting William Jewell in an exhibition game Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. CT. The contest is at Swinney Recreation Center and is the Roos’ only exhibition match before officially beginning the regular season.
The game marks the beginning of a new era, as UMKC head coach Jacie Hoyt will lead the team for the first time in the lone exhibition match of the season. The Roos will rely on a pair of All-WAC Second-Team selections Samantha Waldron (Omaha, Neb.) and Kristen Moore (Chicago, Ill.) to lead the way in the 2017-18 campaign. Waldron averaged a team-best 11.8 points per game in addition to 1.5 assists per game a season ago. Moore was second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 5.7 rpg in 2016-17. This year’s UMKC squad is an experienced group, with seven seniors and two juniors all looking to make significant contributions throughout the season.
