Fargo, N.D. -- The UMKC women's basketball team fell at North Dakota State, 65-55, on Monday night at the Bison Sports Arena. The Kangaroos drop to 11-12 overall and 8-4 in The Summit League, while the Bison improve to 13-10 overall and 8-5 in league play. Chazny Morris led all players with 20 points and led the `Roos with seven rebounds.

The entire game was a back-and-forth battle that really came down to the last five minutes. The Kangaroos took their fourth lead of the second half with a three-pointer from Kaycie Boyles, who made her first appearance since knee surgery four weeks ago, to jump ahead by one (51-50) with 4:50 on the clock.

But the lead was short-lived as Katie Birkel had a three-point play to put the Bison back out on top. UMKC would have to foul North Dakota State late in the game to gain possession of the ball, but that would seal the win for the home team, as the Bison went 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the final two minutes.

UMKC was down by as much as seven points (49-42) with seven minutes left in the game but back-to-back three-pointers by Morris would get the `Roos in a position to take over the lead.

The first half was also a back-and-forth affair that resulted in seven lead changes. With less than five minutes remaining in the first half, the `Roos were finally able to catch a few breaks and make some defensive stops to head into the locker room with a four point lead, 31-27. A lay-up by Morris with 4:17 on the clock jumpstarted a 10-2 run to close out the first half.

UMKC had a better shooting percentage from the field (.404 compared to .400) and the three-point line (.417 compared to .313) but that wouldn't stop three Bison from finishing in double figures.

The Kangaroos are back at home on Saturday afternoon playing host to Oakland at 4 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium.
