UMKC Set to Host Sterling College for Exhibition Game Friday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s basketball team will open the 2017-18 season with an exhibition contest against Sterling College on Friday. Tipoff between the Roos and the Warriors is set for 6:05 p.m. CT at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City.

Kareem Richardson’s troop features six returning letterwinners and welcomes nine newcomers this season. The Roos will look to the senior leadership of Broderick Robinson (Grand Junction, Colo.), as UMKC lost all five of its starters from 2016-17. Robinson, along with Xavier Bishop (Springfield, Ill.), played in all 35 games for the Roos last season, while Isaiah Ross (Davenport, Iowa) made an appearance in 34 contests. Richardson enters his fifth year at the helm of the Roos program.

UMKC opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 at Wichita State. Tipoff between the Roos and the Shockers is slated for 7 p.m. CT at Charles Koch Arena. The contest is set to air on COX HD 2022. UMKC’s home opener will be on Nov. 12 against Haskell at 4 p.m. CT as a kickoff to the Gulf Coast Showcase.
