KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC volleyball (20-10, 11-5) enters the WAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed where it will face No. 6 seed Seattle U (11-18, 4-12) at 9 p.m. CT., on Thanksgiving Day. With a win, the Roos will advance to take on No. 2 seed New Mexico State (22-7, 12-4) at 9 p.m. CT on Friday, while Saturday’s Championship match is also at 9 p.m. CT.
About the Roos
UMKC enters the match with a 20-10 record overall and a 11-5 mark in WAC play to finish in third place. This season, the Roos have picked up WAC wins over CSU Bakersfield (x2), Utah Valley (x2), California Baptist (x2), Chicago State, Seattle U (x2) and Grand Canyon (x2). On the year, UMKC has garnered four WAC Player of the Week awards, as Tyrecia Lukes (x2) and Melanie Brecka garnered offensive honors and Alex Ratzlaff was awarded the defensive honor. The 20 wins, meanwhile, are tied for the second most in program history.
Seattle U comes into the match with a 4-12 mark in WAC play and an 11-18 record overall, to earn the No. 6 seed. This season, the Redhawks are hitting .181 and averaging 12.11 k/s, while notching 2.24 b/s.
New Mexico State enters the tournament with a first round bye as the No. 2 seed, finishing conference play with a 12-4 record and a 22-7 mark overall. On the year, the Aggies are averaging 12.84 k/s, while hitting .226 with 2.30 b/s. NMSU finished 2-0 against the Roos this season.
