KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC women’s tennis team (10-11) closed out the 2019 regular season with a victory over Oral Roberts, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Looking to polish up before the WAC Tournament next week, the Roos fought through tough match-ups in doubles and singles play to clinch their 10th win on the year.

After playing on senior day for UMKC, Katie Fries continued to hit the ball well in the No. 2 spot as she picked up a point for the Roos with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Fries has now won six straight matches in the No. 2 spot, which is the longest current streak for any Roos player.

Riddhi Sharma, who replaced the injured Yana Grechkina for the second day in a row in the No. 3 hole, maintained a good pace through her match-up and notched another point for the Roos in singles play with a score of 6-4, 6-3.

Since defeating Creighton back on Mar. 26th, the Roos have now won seven of their last eight matches and will look to use their current hot streak in the WAC Tournament. UMKC has won the last two championships which have resulted in back-to-back berths in the NCAA Tournament.
