KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC women’s tennis team will open up the NCAA Tournament on May 11 when it heads to Stillwater, Okla., to take on No. 8 overall seed Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. CT.
“I’m glad we get a regional matchup,” Head Coach Kendell Hale said. “We would have liked to give the girls a different experience than they had last year, but we will go down there and give our best effort. Oklahoma State is a very tough opponent who we are familiar with, but you can be sure we will give it our all.”
The Roos, who advanced to their second straight NCAA Tournament after beating UT Rio Grande Valley, come into the event with a 15-9 record on the season and will face the Cowboys in a rematch of last year’s first round matchup which Oklahoma State won 4-0.
“A two-peat is always big,” Hale continued. “The legacy that our former players built and our current players are continuing is a huge accomplishment for them.:
The winner of the matchup will advance to take on the winner of Tulsa and LSU in round two.
Oklahoma State enters the tournament with a 19-4 record overall and finished second in the Big 12.
All-Session tickets for the event go on sale Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. by phone at 877-255-4678 or okstate.com/tickets.
