DENVER, Colo. – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) has released the bracket for the 2019 WAC Women’s Tennis Tournament that will be played on Apr. 26-28th in Brownsville, Texas, the conference announced yesterday.
UMKC has earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after posting a 3-2 record in WAC play. The Roos will take on No. 6 seed Seattle U on Friday, Apr. 26th at 9 a.m. CT.
In the WAC Tournament, UMKC is 2-0 all-time against the Redhawks in the first round.
Claiming the WAC tournament title the previous two years which have resulted in berths to the NCAA Tournament, UMKC will look to win its third championship in its sixth year in the conference. In both of their NCAA Tournament appearances as a member of the WAC, the Roos were outlasted in the first round by Oklahoma State in back-to-back years.
Overall, the Roos are 5-3 in WAC postseason play since joining back in 2013-14.
After starting out 0-2 in the conference this season, the Roos put together their best outing of the 2019 campaign with a three-match sweep in Chicago, Ill., on Apr. 5-7th, boosting them to their third No. 3 seed in WAC Tournament history.
The Roos will face off with three more opponents in the regular season before heading to the WAC tournament later in April. UMKC will next take on Iowa State on Friday, April 12th at 5:30 p.m. CT.
