KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC men’s and women’s tennis and Head Coach Kendell Hale announced their 2018 schedule of matches with plenty of high-powered opponents highlighting the slate.

“This is one of the toughest schedules that UMKC has seen in the history of the program,” Hale said.  “We are excited for the challenge, because we are shooting for a national ranking and we can only do that by playing nationally ranked programs.”

The men open the season on Jan. 19 when they head to Oklahoma State in a rematch of last season NCAA Tournament first round before taking on its second straight Big 12 opponent the next day at Baylor.

The Roos then return to Kansas City for the home opener on Jan. 26 against William Jewell, followed by a four match road swing to Arkansas (Feb. 3), Creighton (Feb. 9), Nebraska (Feb. 10) and Wichita State (Feb. 18).

After home matches with Oral Roberts on Feb. 23 and Northwest Missouri State on Mar. 9, UMKC travels to Omaha on Mar. 15 and Oklahoma on Mar. 24.

The Roos nonconference schedule is rounded out by matches in Des Moines, Iowa, against Drake and Old Dominion on Apr. 6-7 and the regular season finale at Saint Louis on Apr. 20.

The Blue & Gold will look to defend their WAC crown when they head to Phoenix, Ariz., for the WAC Tournament on Apr. 27-29.
