Castellano, a senior from Gran Canaria, Spain, extended his six match winning streak with a victory over Drake’s top flight opponent this past weekend. With the 7-6, 6-3 win, Castellano also extended his school record with 75 career singles win. Ladutska, a senior from Minsk, Belarus, pushed her winning streak to nine straight with a 2-0 performance over the weekend. She took down the top flight from Grand Canyon 6-2, 6-4 before defeating NM State’s No. 1 7-5, 6-2. Ladutska finished WAC play with a perfect 5-0 record as the top flight for Kansas City.
The honor is the fifth of the season for Castellano (one singles, four doubles) and the 13th of his career and the sixth total for the men this season. Ladutska, meanwhile, takes home her fifth honor of the season and career, all in singles play, and the eighth overall (six singles, two doubles) for the women this season.
The Blue & Gold men will be back in action again on Friday when they head to Chicago, Ill., for the second WAC cluster on Apr. 13-14 for matches with New Mexico State and UTRGV with the chance to win a WAC regular season title, while the women will be back in action again on Apr. 20 when they head to St. Louis, Mo., to take on Saint Louis at 12:15 p.m.
