DENVER, Colo. – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) has released the bracket for the 2019 WAC Men’s Tennis Tournament that will be played on Apr. 26-28th in Brownsville, Texas, the conference announced yesterday.
UMKC has earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after posting a 3-2 record in WAC play. The Roos will take on No. 6 seed Seattle U on Friday, Apr. 26th at 1 p.m. CT.
In the WAC Tournament, UMKC is 1-0 all-time against the Redhawks in the first round.
Securing an NCAA tournament berth in 2017, UMKC will look to win its second WAC championship in its sixth year in the conference. During the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Championship, the Roos fell to Oklahoma State in its lone appearance, 4-0.
Overall, the Roos are 5-4 in WAC postseason play since joining back in 2013-14
After starting out 1-2 in the conference this season, the Roos put together their best outing of the 2019 campaign with a two-match sweep in Seattle, Wash., on Apr. 12-13th, boosting them to their second No. 3 seed in WAC Tournament history.
The Roos will face off with Saint Louis on Friday, April 19th at 1 p.m. CT before heading off to the WAC Tournament later in April. Friday’s match will be taking place on Senior Day and the Roos will be sending off three of their long time athletes in Ben Stride, Hunter Clark and Anil Patel.
