Men's Tennis Wraps-up Day One of ITA Regionals

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – UMKC men’s tennis wrapped up the opening day of the ITA Regionals with three singles wins on the day.

In singles play, Diego Giraldo knocked-off North Dakota’s Laska, 6-0, 6-2, Airam Castellano defeated Oral Roberts’ Boykin 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and Daniel Izadifar beat South Dakota State’s Ward 6-4, 7-5.

In other singles action, Hunter Clark fell to North Dakota’s Buth, 6-1, 6-3, Tom Kruse fell to Nebraska’s Bednarczyk, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, Marc Casasnovas fell to Oklahoma State’s Dubinksi, 6-2, 6-2, Alex Pozo fell to Arkansas’ Alonzo, 6-4, 6-2, Anil Patel fell to Iowa’s Jacoby, 6-2, 6-2, Alex Kartsonis fell to Arkansas’ Bortnick 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) and Amaury Navette fell to Drake’s MacGeogh, 6-4, 7-5.

In doubles play, Clark and Giraldo lost to Minnesota’s Allen and Sprinkel 8-5 and Patel and Kartsonis lost to the Gophers’ Krstanovic and Levin 8-2.  Kruse and Navette, meanwhile, fell to Tulsa’s Kilani and Hing, 8-4 and Casasnovas and Izadifar lost to Oklahoma State’s Mendoza and Tyler, 8-4.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again tomorrow when they compete in day two of the ITA Regionals.
