EL PASO, Texas. – The UMKC men’s golf team enters the second round of play at the Price’s “Give ‘Em 5” Invitational in eighth position after a first round 287, just 12 shots off the lead at the Butterfield Trail Golf Course.
Paul Foulquie (Paris, France) carded the Roos lowest score of the day with a -1, 70 that featured three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 2nd to sit in a tie for 13th.
Taylor Larsen (Garden City, Kan.) and Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.), meanwhile, are tied for 26th at +1 after each fired a 72 on day one. Larsen finished with birdies on the par-4’s of Nos. 1 and 16 and the par-5 18, while Humphreys also birdied No. 18, along with the par-4’s of Nos. 12 and 15.
Francois Lagraulet (Bordeaux, France) is tied for 39th, one shot back of Humphreys and Larsen after a three birdie first round, while McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) is tied for 61st at +4 after he also tallied three birdies in round one.
Playing as an individual, Jack Hermeston (Newcastle, England) is tied for 75th at +7 with a pair of opening round birdies.
Host UTEP holds the team lead by a shot over Texas State and six shots over New Mexico State, No. 24 Marquette and Oral Roberts, while the Bobcats’ Calvin Ross and the Miners’ Charles Corner are tied for the individual lead at -7.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again tomorrow morning when they tee-off in the second round of the event.
