Fort Collins, Colo. – Francois Lagraulet (Bordeaux, France) carded rounds of 67 and 65 to sit at -8 with the individual lead entering the final round of play in the Ram Masters Invitational at the Fort Collins Country Club.
Teeing-off on No. 10, Lagraulet slipped to +1 with a bogey on No. 11, but rebounded with birdies on the par-3 No. 14 and the par-4’s of Nos. 16 and 18. The Frenchman made it back-to-back birdies after notching his fourth of the round on the par-5 No. 1, and, after bogeying No. 4, closed out the opening round with his fifth and final birdie on the par-3 No. 9.
The junior went even lower in round two, opening the round with a birdie on the par-4 No. 10 before back-to-back on the par-3 No. 14 and the par-5 No. 15. Lagraulet then finished with a bogey free front nine, registering four more birdies in the round to take the overall lead.
Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.) holds the Roos’ second lowest score at +3 after recording five birdies in round one, including back-to-back on the par-4’s of Nos. 3 and 4 and adding two more in round two, including his second straight on No. 3 to rank 24th individually.
One shot back of Humphreys in a tie for 31st is Paul Foulquie (Paris, France) who tallied five birdies in his first two rounds as a collegiate, while McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) is tied for 38th as he too finished with five birdies on day one.
Freshman Taylor Larsen (Garden City, Kan.) rounded out the UMKC lineup in a tie for 76th with his day highlighted by back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 in round two.
As a team, UMKC men’s golf sits in second on the leaderboard, one shot better than Wyoming and 14 shots behind host Colorado State.
The Cowboys John Murdock, meanwhile, is two shots behind Lagraulet in second position.
The Roos will be back in again tomorrow morning beginning at 10:40 a.m. CT when Larsen tees-off on No. 1, while Lagraulet closes out the field with an 11:20 a.m. CT tee time in the final round of the event.
