KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s golf team finished 11th in a loaded field at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational at the Princeville Makai Golf Course in Princeville, Hawaii, shooting rounds of 293-289-278 to finish at -4 overall.
McCain Schellhardt paced the Roos, finishing in a tie for 24th at -4. He opened the event on the back nine in round one, notching four birdies and one more on the front nine, leading to an opening round +1, 73. In round two, he added four more birdies, including his second straight on No. 14 en route to a 72. Schellhardt then closed the tournament with a final round 67, opening the round with birdies on four of his first five holes, before adding three more in a bogey-free final nine.
Paul Foulquie tied for 42nd in the event at -1. Foulquie started the tournament with four birdies in an up-and-down round one and added five more in round two, leading to rounds of 75 and 72. In his final round 68, he opened with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12 and added one more on the back nine. On the front nine, he opened with a birdie on No. 1, added back-to-back on Nos. 4 and 5 and notched one more on No. 8.
Francois Lagraulet was the Roos next highest finisher in a tie for 46th at even par after matching Foulquie with a four birdie opening round for a 70. Lagraulet followed with back-to-back rounds of 73, carding a trio of birdies in each of the two rounds.
At +2 was Taylor Larsen who started with a first round 75 that featured five birdies and followed with a 72 in round two that included two birdies and an eagle on the par-five No. 18. Larsen then closed the event with a final round 71 with four birdies.
Daniel Gaspar, meanwhile, closed out the tournament in a tie for 89th at +9, with rounds of 76-77-72, registering three birdies in each round.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Feb. 25-26 when they take part in the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La.
