DENVER, Colo. – UMKC men's golf sophomore Francois Lagraulet (Bordeaux, France) was named second-team All-Western Athletic Conference following a vote by the league's head coaches. The selection marks the second consecutive year Lagraulet has earned All-WAC recognition.
“It is great to see Francois honored in this way,” head coach J.W. VanDenBorn said. “He is one of the top players in our league and it is nice to see the respect his game has garnered around the WAC. He really battled back from some early season struggles to put together some strong finishes at the end of the year. I am proud of the way he hung in there and battled for us all year. It was just unfortunate that his injury forced him to miss the WAC Championship.”
Lagraulet recorded a 74.30 stroke average in 10 tournaments during the 2016-17 season. He carded five rounds under par, two in the 60s and a season-best sixth-place finish at Iowa's Hawkeye Invitational on April 16, when he finished at 2-under par and shot a season-best 68 (-4) in the second round.
As a freshman in 2015-16, Lagraulet was named the WAC Freshman of the Year and earned first-team All-WAC honors. He has also been an Academic All-WAC honoree.
