UMKC Tied for Third After Second Round of WAC Championship

MESA, Ariz. – UMKC men's golf shot a collective 294 (+10) Saturday and is tied for third place entering the final round of the Western Athletic Conference Championship at Longbow Golf Club. The Roos were 3-under par on the back nine and are seven shots back of tournament-leading Seattle U and two strokes behind Utah Valley. Hubert Tisserand (Lyon, France) is tied for seventh individually after shooting 74 (+3) in the middle round.

Tisserand notched three birdies in Saturday's round, including back-to-back holes to start the back nine. McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) moved up five spots on the leaderboard with a 72 (+1). He recorded two birdies and 14 pars on the day. Schellhardt is tied for 15th individually. Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.) carded a 75 (+4) and sits in a tie for 17th place. He knocked down three birdie putts.

Jakob Garstecki (Germantown, Wis.) shot 73 (+2) and also moved up five spots. He recorded four birdies, including three in a 5-hole stretch on the back nine. Thibault Vieilledent (Cannes, France) shot 78 (+7).

Kyle Cornett of Seattle U holds a 1-shot individual lead at 1-under par. Mike McGilton of New Mexico State and Vinnie Murphy of Grand Canyon are a shot back at even par.

UMKC's tee times in Sunday's third round range from 11:30 a.m. – 12:06 p.m. CT.
