UMKC Tied for Eighth on First Day of Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa – UMKC men’s golf is tied for eighth after approximately one and a half rounds at the Hawkeye Invitational Saturday at the Finkbine Golf Club. Play was stopped midway during the second round due to weather. The tournament will resume Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.

The Roos are at 8-over par collectively. Francois Lagraulet (Bordeaux, France) moved up 19 spots individually and is tied for 10th after recording five birdies in 11 holes. He is 1-under for the tournament.

UMKC was tied for sixth place out of 14 teams following the first round of the Hawkeye Invitational Saturday at Finkbine Golf Course. The second round is currently underway.

UMKC shot a collective 293 (+5) in the first round, led by an even par 72 from Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.). Jakob Garstecki (Germantown, Wis.) shot 73 (+1) while McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) and Lagraulet both carded a 74 (+2). Thibault Vieilledent (Cannes, France) shot 80 (+8).

No. 11 Texas Tech leads in the team standings a 9-under par and followed by Kansas three shots back. Hurly Long of the Red Raiders leads individually at 9-under. Nick Voke of Iowa State is two shots behind.
