The following is the fourth installment of “Roos Introducing Roos,” a multi-part series introducing the UMKC softball newcomers as told by a returning member of the squad. Noteworthy facts about head coach Meredith Smith Neal's latest additions will be unveiled on a weekly basis as the team approaches the 2018 season.

Sophomore Lia Lombardini is the next returner to introduce a newcomer, and today she introduces Macy Hornosky.

All the way from Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Macy Hornosky joins the UMKC softball team this year as a freshman. What drove Macy to take such a big leap? She loved the atmosphere and people here in Kansas City. With plenty of stuff to do around the campus in the city, Macy figured she would never get too bored. Also, she was impressed by the medical program here and decided on biology as a major.

At home in Louisiana, Macy attended Mount Carmel Academy for girls where she was on the sailing team and life skills group. She played softball with her competitive team, the Louisiana Voodoo. When she isn’t on the softball diamond, or sailing the big, blue sea, Macy loves to hang out with her three dogs, but her favorite is her husky puppy, Tulane. Macy lives an active life and loves biking, hammocking, and hanging out with her friends. In her downtime, Macy loves to watch movies. A few of her favorites include Bridesmaids, Just Go With It, and Safe Haven.

Macy can juggle like a clown at a circus, and tends to carry around her own seasoning in case there’s ever a flavor emergency. Macy loves every kind of food, but seafood has a very special place in her heart.

Macy loves her parents, Keri and David Hornosky, and she has an older brother who attends Tulane University.
