The ‘Roos got things going in the bottom of the third with a leadoff single by Sydney Garcia, she then stole second to get there first runner in scoring position. Ashlin O’Brien and Morgan Byrn followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases for senior Kelsey Goodwin. Goodwin initiated the dagger with a long ball over the right fielder’s head clearing the bases and landing at third to put the ‘Roos up 3-0.

UMKC added two more in the bottom of the fourth on a two out rally. Alex Bloom reached base on a two out walk and was able to move to second on a pass ball.  Kamrie Harrison followed her up with an infield single. Bloom was able to score on a pass ball and Harrison was able to move to third. Garcia then scored Harrison on a single to mark the score 5-0 ‘Roos.

Going into the bottom of the fifth, Byrn led off the inning with a triple to the right side. Goodwin scored Byrn with a sac fly to right field. Maegan Rollow and Lia Lombardini had back-to-back singles followed by a Faith Willis walk. Bloom was able to score a run with a right side error. Olivia Fluehr scored another run with a sac fly to right field putting the ‘Roos up 10-0.

The UMKC pitching staff was solid in the circle the entire game. Freshman Ashlynn Robinson pitched the first four innings giving up three hits no walks and recording one strikeout. Olivia Fluehr came into the game in the top of the fifth giving up two hits no walks and one strikeout. Andra O’Brien pitched the last two innings, striking out the side in the top of the sixth and giving up the lone run for the Bears in the top of the seventh.

UMKC goes on to beat DMACC 10-1.

The ‘Roos will be back in action this weekend Sunday, October 22 at Urban Youth Academy. Game is set for a noon first pitch against North Central Missouri College.
