Game 1 against William Jewell:

Olivia Fluehr started in the circle for the Roos, she gave up three hits and two runs in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first, UMKC wasted no time getting the bats rolling with Ashlin O’Brien’s single to the right side. From there, a two-out rally started with a Kelsey Goodwin infield single to put runners at 1st and 2nd.

Maegan Rollow added another hit with an RBI single to the right side. That was followed with a Lia Lombardini single to the opposite side to score one. With runners on the corners sophomore Faith Willis found the hole in front of the right fielder to score another run. Taylor Curbow battled at the plate and eventually put the ball into play with a ground ball to second. The speed of Willis was too much for Jewell, which allowed UMKC to score another run ending the first inning up 4-2.

Despite a lead off hit in the top of the second, UMKC’s defense was able to hold the Cardinals scoreless. Taking the mound in the top of the third is Senior Lynsey Conner recording only two outs before fellow senior Sara Miller came in for relief, but not before damage was already done putting the Cardinals ahead 5-4. Heads up double play by Goodwin in the top of the fourth got the Roos out with only minor damage making the score 6-4 Cardinals. Kamrie Harrison led things off with a single in the bottom of the fourth, but was caught stealing second. Sydney Garcia then reached base on an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the shortstop. O’Brien followed with a ground ball single up the middle to score Garcia making the score 6-5 Cardinals.

Jewell was able to answer back in the top of the fifth scoring one off a UMKC error. In the bottom of the sixth, Morgan Byrn found the hole in front of the right fielder to reach base. Coming in to run for her was Tiler Noyola who made it to third off a double by Ashlin O’Brien. Miller was able to shut down any attempt that the Cardinals made to score in the top of the seventh. Going into the bottom of the seventh down two, Faith Willis reached on a walk, Taylor Curbow hit a single up the middle but it wasn’t enough for the Roos. Roos fell 7-5 to William Jewell.

Game 2 against Central Missouri:

Sophomore Andra O’Brien started things strong in the circle recording three consecutive outs the first two innings against the Jennies. The third inning is when things really got going for both teams. Central Missouri had a leadoff single to start the top half scoring one.

Kamrie Harrison led off the bottom of the third with a walk and was able to move over to third from two pass balls. Ashlin O’Brien knocked a one-out RBI double to put the Roos on the board. Morgan Byrn drove a ball to the right side to score O’Brien from second to put the Roos up 2-1.

UCM scored one in the top of the fourth to even the score 2-2.

The bottom of the sixth the Roos got some things going again with a leadoff single by Kelsey Goodwin.  Macy Hornosky came in to run for Godowin and Olivia Fluehr followed with a hit up the middle. Tiler Noyola then came in to run for Fluehr. Faith Willis moved them over with a ground out to the right side. With two outs, Taylor Curbow stepped to the plate hoping to add to her RBIs, but the Roos were unsuccessful in pushing runs across the board.

Freshman pitcher Ashlynn Robinson was able to hold the Jennies scoreless in the top of the seventh that would give the Roos a chance to push one across to win.

With a tie game, Harrison led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single. Sydney Garcia would follow with a ground out to move her over to second. Ashlin O’Brien would move her over to third with a ground out. Harrison scored on a pass ball to win the game.

Roos won 3-2 against Central Missouri.
