Junior transfer Olivia Fluehr made her debut in the circle starting game one against MidAmerica Nazarene University. Despite giving up a lead off single in the first she was able to dig in and only allow one run in the first two innings.
UMKC’s bats were silent up until the bottom of the fourth. Morgan Byrn led off the inning with a single up the middle. Maegan Rollow had a one out single to move Byrn into scoring position. With two outs the floodgates opened after an Alyx Bloom walk to load the bases. Freshman Taylor Curbow stepped to the plate and smacked a 2 RBI single. Faith Willis followed with a 2 RBI double. Sydney Garcia walked and Ashlin O’Brien hit a 1 RBI single. Up for the second time in the inning Byrn hit a base clearing triple to score one. The Roos were far from finished when Kelsey Goodwin scored Byrn with a single. Rollow kept it going with a double off the wall. Lia Lombardini took advantage of a MNU error to reach base allowing Bloom and Curbow to have back-to-back singles. Willis added two more runs to the scorebook with a single to the right side.
The Roos scored three more in the bottom of the sixth.
MNU added two more runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough, the Roos went on to win 15-4.
The second game of the day was a defensive duel against Creighton, with stellar outings by Andra O’Brien and Ashlynn Robinson in the circle. The pair registered a shut out against the first division one opponent on the fall season. Kamrie Harrison added supreme outfield defense the entire contest. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when Sydney Garcia got things going with a one out single. With two outs Byrn moved Garcia over with a single to the left side. Kelsey Goodwin walked to load the bases. With bases loaded, two outs, and a full count, Maegan Rollow pulls through with the walk off base hit to center field.
