KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former UMKC’s softball player and coach Alyx Bloom has signed on to play professionally with Saronno Softball in Saronno, Italy, as part of the European Softball Federation.

We are to present the umpteenth Nerazzurri purchase for next season. In this case it comes directly from overseas, more precisely from Kansas! Here is our brief interview with the new Saronese catcher Alyx Bloom!

Below is a translated interview with Bloom on her joining the squad:

Q: Hi Alyx Bloom ! How do you feel about being part of the Saronno Softball?
A: Hello! I'm super excited and I cannot wait to meet all my new fteammates, coaches and fans!

Q: Tell us something about you!
A: I was born on February 3, 1995 in Clay Center, Kansas, I have two younger brothers, Zeb and Zane and my family has always been super passionate about sports in general, they have always been my number one supporters!

Q: How did you start your softball career?
A: I have always been super competitive, since I was a child, and I have played various sports, but it was at Hutchinson Community College that I started my career, dividing my two passions: softball and basketball. At 'Hutch' we won regional and state titles with the basketball team, while with the softball team I was a utility player.

After Hutchinson College I played for the UMKC, where I played catcher, playing 55 games. With the Kangaroos, in the first season I managed to had three HR, eight doubles and two triples.

My professional career started in 2018, with my move to Mobile, Alabama. I was drafted as second choice in round 14. With Team Outkast I played 21 games.

Q: What do you think of the Softball A1 Series? What convinced you to come and play here?
A: I heard that the level here is very high, and as I said, I'm super competitive, so I really wanted to try this new experience! I will try my best to achieve beautiful goals with my teammates and learn as much as possible from my new coaches!

Q: Thanks Alyx! Good luck and welcome to the Nerazzurre!
A: Thanks to you! Come on, Saronno!

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Friday when they host Creighton in a doubleheader to kick-off the Creighton Tournament at 3 p.m. CT.
