LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Three UMKC softball student-athletes were given All-Western Athletic Conference accolades at a banquet Wednesday night leading up to the WAC Tournament on May 11-13.
“I am so proud of our three all-conference winners,” commented head coach Meredith Smith Neal. “They have put in a lot of hard work and dedication this year and deserve the honor of all-conference.”
Leach is batting a team-high .388 with 10 doubles, four triples, 23 RBIs and 24 walks. In the WAC, she currently ranks in the top-five in several categories, including batting average, on-base percentage (.482) and slugging percentage (.583). Leach is also one of three players in the league to have a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
During league play this season, Rollow leads the team at the plate going 12-for-30 (.400) with two doubles and four RBIs. The sophomore's pair of home runs were both against conference opponents. Rollow has played in all but two games for the Roos this season, making 43 total starts in the outfield.
For the second consecutive season, Goodwin earned a spot on the All-WAC second team. The sophomore is currently second on the squad in batting average, going 16-for-44 (.364) at the plate during conference play and 40-for-122 (.328) overall. She has accumulated 18 runs, seven doubles, 13 RBIs and 10 walks in 42 games of action.
The No. 4 seeded UMKC softball team (15-36, 5-10 WAC) will open the WAC Tournament against No. 5 seeded CSU Bakersfield (11-31, 4-11 WAC) at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday in the double-elimination tournament.
