KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams wrapped-up the 2019 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Orem, Utah, with the men placing third and the women fifth.
Overall, the Roos finished with 24 All-WAC performers and four all-time UMKC top-five results.
Claiming a title for the Roos was Carolyn Ross who won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:00.56.
Perry Adderley meanwhile, finished second in the shot put with a toss of 16.86m, the third best mark in school history.
Chesney Walker also notched a top-five all-time result in the heptathlon as her score of 4,118 is the fifth best in school history, while Malon Lee’s time of 24.65 in the 200-meter dash stands as the fourth best time ever at UMKC and Leyla Edwards jump of 24.65 in the triple jump is fifth best.
Other runner-up finishes for the Roos were Quinlan Moll (10,000-meter run – 31:09.66 & 5,000-meter run – 15:05.72), Lukas Van der Watt (pole vault – 4.73m), Bryce Miller (3,000-meter steeplechase – 9:02.78) and Jamarice Preston (high jump – 2.05m).
The Blue & Gold will now wait for the announcement of the regional qualifiers to see who will participate in the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, Calif.
