KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams closed out the regular season of the outdoor season this weekend when they took part in the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Ward Haylett Invitational in Manhattan, Kan,
In Arkansas, Sommer Herner picked up a top-five all-time UMKC results with a time of 4:37.57 in the 1,500-meter run, fourth best in school history and fifth in the event, while for the men, Walker Miller’s time of 9:20.54 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase was also the fourth best mark for a Roo all-time and fifth in the event.
Matia Finley, meanwhile, claimed the title in the discus throw with a mark of 49.52m, while sister Rebecca Finley placed third at 46.94m. Mia Jerman also notched a top-three result, coming in second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:12.92.
In Manhattan, Rebecca Finley notched a top-five school mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.14m, fourth in the event and fifth in school history.
For the men, Jaquez Perry’s time of 47.96 in the 400-meter dash placed him second in the event and fourth in school history, while Perry Adderley (shot put), Jackson Foutch (javelin throw) and Lukas van der Watt (pole vault) all registered second place finishes.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on May 9-11 when they head to Orem, Utah, for the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
