NAMPA, Idaho – The UMKC track & field teams got the 2018 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships underway in Nampa, Idaho, at the Ford Idaho Center on Thursday with the women’s pentathlon and the men’s heptathlon.
On the women’s side, Daiwa Emmert led the Roos, finishing the event in third position with 3,222 points, while right behind in fourth place was Gabriel Foster with 3,181 points. After day one, the Roos are in second position with 11 points.
In the running events, Emmert placed fifth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:39.02 (584 points) and sixth in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.45 (818 points) and Foster placed eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:43.71 (531 points) and fifth in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.27 (854 points).
In the jumps, Foster finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters (736 points) and ninth in the long jump at 4.74 meters (490 points) and Emmert placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.54 meters (666 points) and sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.23 meters (623 points).
In the shot put, Foster placed second with a throw of 10.62 meters (570 points) and Emmert placed fourth after a toss of 10.02 meters (531 points).
After four events in the heptathlon, meanwhile, Zane Lockhart is sixth with 2,555 points.
In the 60 meter dash, Lockhart placed seventh in a time of 7.56 (694 points) and in the shot put he finished sixth with a mark of 10.01 meters (486 points). In the jumps, Lockhart came in fifth with a jump of 1.80 meters (627 points) in the high jump and in the long jump he finished fourth with a mark of 6.72 meters (748 points).
