MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UMKC men’s soccer team (2-0-3) fought to a 2-2 double overtime draw at Milwaukee (2-2-2) on Tuesday evening to continue its unbeaten streak. The last time the Roos went unconquered for five-consecutive matches dates back to the 2014 campaign.

UMKC’s first shot of the game came at the five-minute mark, as junior Henry Ramirez (Costa Mesa, Calif.) sent the ball just high of the crossbar. Milwaukee’s Reid Stevenson put the Panthers on the board in the 11th minute of the match on a free kick from in front of the box.

Senior Eric McWoods (St. Louis, Mo.) continued to be a threat for UMKC, scoring the equalizer in the 33rd minute of the match, courtesy of Christian Anderaos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) team-leading third assist of the season. For his second-straight goal, McWoods beat the opposing goalkeeper and sent the ball through the back post from the left wing.

Both teams held their own in the second half, but a collision between McWoods and the Panther goalkeeper left an open net for newcomer Lorant Lettner (Budapest, Hungary) to score his first collegiate goal from 25 yards out, putting UMKC ahead, 2-1.

In the 78th minute of the match, Milwaukee responded with an equalizer of its own, as Jason Svensson leapt above all Roo defenders and headed one into the back of the net, sending the game into overtime.

Junior Diego Serfaty (Caracas, Venezuela) took the only shot for either team during the first overtime, sending it into the outstretched hands of Milwaukee’s reserve goalkeeper. The Panthers tallied four shots – to UMKC’s lone shot by Alexis Quevedo (El Paso, Texas) – in the final ten minutes, but were unable to get any through the Roos defense and UMKC goalkeeper Filippo Errico (Verona, Italy), who matched his season high single game save total, grabbing seven in the net for the Roos.

UMKC will return home for a pair of games against Western Illinois (Sept. 16) and Missouri State (Sept. 19), before wrapping up the nonconference portion of its schedule at Drake (Sept. 23). The Roos home games against the Leathernecks and Bears will be broadcasted on the WAC Digital Network.
