KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s soccer team fell to Northwestern on Sunday night with a score of 1-0.

Playing through a 0-0 tie late in the second half, Northwestern junior forward Ty Seager netted a goal in the 75th minute to give the Wildcats a victory over the Roos. UMKC Head Coach Rick Benben gave some input on his team’s play tonight.

“Tough result tonight”, Benben stated. “The boys played pretty well and had a great push the last 10 minutes to get the equalizer.” “But a tough result overall.”

Referencing the defensive side of the field for UMKC, junior goalkeeper Filippo Errico (Verona, Italy) faced 11 shots and saved five of them from the Wildcats. Besides the lone goal late in Sunday’s game, the team gave Northwestern everything they had on the defensive front.

The offensive unit had their moments as well in the last 10 minutes of play, with senior midfielder Pandelis Popgeorgiev (Budapest, Hungary) firing two shots on goal for the Roos. Junior defender Antoine Precheur fired a shot on goal as well for UMKC, which tallied a total of eight shots on the night.

Freshman midfielder David Ray-Campoy (Barcelona, Spain) increases his lead in minutes played for the Roos, reaching 460 minutes on the season.

With the conclusion of tonight’s game in Evanston, Ill., the Roos will return home for the week before heading to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Missouri State Bears on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 7 p.m. C.T.
