KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s soccer team has released its 2019 season schedule and included are 18 matches. The 2019 season will feature nine home games and nine road games.
The home opener will take place on Aug. 17th against inner-city rival Rockhurst in an exhibition at 7:30 p.m. CT. Last year’s matchup with the Hawks drew in 2,471 spectators at Durwood Stadium, a program attendance record. The women’s soccer team will play their exhibition match on that Saturday against South Dakota State before the home opener begins for the men’s squad later that evening.
The Roos marquee match-up of 2019 will take place on Sept. 28th in the conference opener when the team takes on reigning Western Athletic Conference champions Air Force, who advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last season after upsetting 15th seeded Denver.
Before that match at Colorado Springs, Colo., UMKC will rekindle an old flame with Missouri Valley Conference rival Missouri State on Sept. 7th at Durwood Stadium.
Starting Sept. 28th against Air Force, the Roos will play a huge chunk of their road schedule in an eight day span which includes visits to San Jose State and Seattle U.
The 2019 regular season campaign will conclude with a visit to Houston Baptist on Nov. 9th. The match against the Huskies will end an 11-game WAC schedule.
After the conclusion of conference play, the WAC Tournament will arrive on Wednesday, Nov. 13th at Colorado Springs, Colo., the home of Air Force.
Beginning Nov. 17th, the NCAA Tournament bracket will be released with the WAC championship game being played that Sunday.
UMKC will transition to a younger team in 2019 with the loss of 13 seniors. The Roos ended last season with victories in three of their last four matches, including a come-back victory on a senior day against Houston Baptist.
