KANSAS CITY, MO. – The UMKC men’s soccer team is excited to announce a high quality spring schedule in 2019 in which the Roos will look to gain experience heading into their competitive season this upcoming fall. Coming off the 2018 season in which the Roos finished with a 5-12 (4-7) record, UMKC is looking to use this five game spring schedule to help prepare themselves for a bounce back campaign in 2019.
The Roos spring schedule is set to get underway in early April, on the 6th at 3:00 PM CT when UMKC will host Benedictine College (Kan.). The following day, the Roos will take a trip up to Omaha, Neb., for a matchup with the Omaha University Mavericks on April 7th at 1:00 PM. The following weekend, UMKC will head to Des Moines, Iowa, for a match-up at Drake on April 13th at 1:00 PM. The next afternoon, UMKC will return to Kansas City, Mo., for a inner-city showdown with neighbor Rockhurst University at 11:00 AM.
After a two-week break, the Roos will round out the spring schedule by hosting MidAmerica Nazarene University at Durwood Stadium on April 27th at 12:00 PM.
"We are looking forward to getting our spring season going this weekend," stated head coach Rick Benben. "This is a very important segment for our players individually but also allows us to improve as a team as well. They have worked extremely hard the last couple of months and it will great to get out and compete.”
The 2018 fall season didn’t quite produce the success UMKC was hoping for but with a roster stacked with eight returning juniors, the Roos are looking to use this spring schedule to get back on track heading into the 2019 season.
