KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC (2-11-2, 1-6-2) was defeated 2-1 by San Jose State (4-12-2, 3-5-1) Saturday night at Durwood Stadium. The Roos got out to an early 1-0 lead on a 26th-minute goal by Michele Drago (Bergamo, Italy), but two second half goals by the Spartans were the difference.

San Jose State outshot UMKC 13-6 and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Drago scored on his own rebound to give the Roos a lead that held up until Ralph Stas tied the score for the Spartans in the 58th minute. Jeremy Romero scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 65th minute.

Eric McWoods (St. Louis, Mo.) finished with a team-high three shots, including one on goal. Romero registered a game-high four shots with three on net.

Seniors Jake Carter (Wichita, Kan.), Luke Gilsinger (St. Louis, Mo.) and Clay Stewart (Olathe, Kan.) were honored during a halftime Senior Night ceremony.

UMKC plays its season finale at UNLV on Saturday, Nov. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.
