Roos Head South To Play in MSU-Payne Stewart Memorial This Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC women’s golf team travels down south to play in the MSU-Payne Stewart Memorial on Monday and Tuesday in Springfield, Mo.

After finishing fifth place in the UNO Invitational during Labor Day weekend, head coach Brianna Broderick’s team looks to build upon their efforts and rise in the leaderboards from the previous match in Omaha.

Senior Cynthia Diaz (Bucaramanga, Colombia) shot a team-best score of 233 during the trip to Ann Arbor Links last week. Some other notable standouts from the UNO Invitational include freshman player Theresa de Bochdanovits (Kitz, Germany) who scored a team best 77 (+5) in round two and sophomore player Caroline Klemp (Lansing, Kan.), who delivered as an individual player in round three, fired a score of 74 (+2), marking a personal best on her behalf.

As each round concluded, the Roos began to find their stride more and more, which helped the team finish strong in their first tournament of 2018.

Lineup for the Roos

For the trip down to Springfield, Mo., the lineup for the MSU-Payne Stewart Memorial will consist of Diaz, freshman Kenni Henson (Derby, Kan.), Bochdanovits, freshman Megan Lucas (Topeka, Kan.) and sophomore Victoria Pavlik (San Antonio, Kan.)

The individual players for the Roos will round out with Klemp, Jaime Bellingham (Auckland, New Zealand) and Hayley Jones (Andover, Kan.)

The Field

Opposing schools that will be entering the field this upcoming week include: Missouri State, UTEP, Creighton, Arkansas State, Omaha, Wichita State, Little Rock, Southern Illinois, William Woods, Memphis, Murray State, Oklahoma City, Oral Roberts and Drury.

Tee times for each day are as followed: Monday, Sept.10th: 8:30 a.m. C.T. (shotgun start) with 36 holes played on the day. Tuesday, Sept. 11th: 8”30 a.m. C.T. (shotgun start) with 18 holes played on the day.

Up Next

After competing at the Twin Oaks Country Club this upcoming week, the Roos will travel back north to play at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. The Club at Old Hawthorne will be the location of the event and the tournament will run from Oct. 1-3.
