KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC women’s golf team finished the PSU/EWU Invitational in third place, just three shots out of second, at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
As a team, the Roos finished at 913 (307-298-308) in the event.
Senior Chandler Gallagher led the squad in the three round tournament, carding a +6, 222 for the Roos. Gallagher opened with a 74 that included a birdie on the par-3 16th, before adding a pair of birdies in her second round 73 on the par-4 10th and the par-5 18th. The senior then closed out the event with a 75 in round three that featured birdies on the par-3 7th and the par-4 9th.
Cynthia Diaz was the next highest finisher for UMKC, tying for 11th at +10. In the opening round, Diaz tallied birdies on No. 9 and the par-5 11th leading to a 75, while adding a 71 in round two that included three birdies on the par-4 3rd, par-3 12th and the par-4 15th. In round three, the Colombian closed the event with a round of 80.
Tying for 22nd for the Roos was Victoria Pavlik at +17. Pavlik began the event with a first round 78, notching birdies on No. 7, No. 12 and No. 18 and wrapped-up day two with her second straight 78 after a birdie on No. 11. Her third round 77, meanwhile, included a pair of par-4 birdies on Nos. 5 and 10.
Also tying for 22nd was Maria Henao. After a birdie-free 80 in round one, Henao followed with a 76 in round two that included birdies on Nos. 11 and 16. The senior then closed the tournament with a 77 that was highlighted by her second straight birdie on No. 16.
Celine Lim rounded out the lineup for UMKC at +23 with rounds of 80, 80 and 79 after recording a single birdie in each round.
Playing as an individual, Cyrielle Kern finished in 38th at +36. Kern tallied a birdie on No. 16 in round one and on No. 6 in round two, while adding birdies on Nos. 3, 11 and 15 in the final round.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Apr. 9-10 when they host the Kansas City Intercollegiate at the Creekmoor Golf Clun in Raymore, Mo.
