VALENTINE, Neb. -- The UMKC men’s golf team enters the final round of the Jackrabbit Invitational at The Prairie Club in a tie for ninth, just 13 shots out of third place.
Francois Lagraulet (Bordeaux, France) continues to hold a top-10 standing as he sits in seventh place after a second round that featured a trio of birdies, leading to a 71 on the day.
McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) tallied a 73 in the second round after a three birdie day, including back-to-back birdies on the No. 10 and No. 11, to rank in a tie for 53rd while Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla) shot a 70 in the second round after carding birdies on the par-4’s of No. 1 and 13, the par-3 of No. 7 and par-5 of No. 10 to sit in a tie for 56th.
Paul Foulquie (Paris, France), matched Schellhardt with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 10 and 11 for a 77 and now sits tied for 65th, while Taylor Larsen (Garden City, Kan.) is tied for 62nd after a team-best 69 in round two. On the day, Larsen notched birdies on Nos. 3 and 5, before tallying three straight birdies on the first three holes of the back nine.
Playing as an individual, Raphael Lapierre-Messier (Quebec, Canada) carded a 68 with six birdies in the second round, three each on the front and back nine, including back-to-back on the par-4’s of Nos. 11 and 12.
Santa Clara continues to hold the team lead in the event, while the Broncos Hayden Shieh is the individual leader.
The Blue & Gold wrap-up play tomorrow morning when they tee-off in the final round of play at 8:30 a.m. CT.
