Ayabei and Nail Earn Summit League Academic All-League Honors

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Wednesday afternoon, The Summit League announced its Cross Country Academic All-League Teams, as two student-athletes from Kansas City, senior Cosmas Ayabei and sophomore Alex Nail, led the way for the Kangaroos.

Ayabei, a nursing major with a 3.59 GPA, was an all-league first team selection for the fourth consecutive season after a fourth-place (25:25.2) finish at the league championships this past weekend.  Also in 2012, the Kenya native was named Athlete of the Week twice

Meanwhile, Nail, holds a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in biology and recorded a season-best 8K time of 26:34 at the league championships.

With Ayabei and Nail earning this award, they tied IUPUI and Western Illinois for a league-best two selections on the men's side.

Coming up, the Blue & Gold will take part in the NCAA Midwest Regional competition on Friday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m. in Springfield, Mo., hosted by Missouri State.
