(Rochester, Mich.) - Saturday morning, the UMKC cross country program competed in The Summit League Championships with the men placing sixth (128 points) in the 8K race and the women finishing ninth (214 points) in the 6K race.
On the men's side, South Dakota State came in first (35 points) with four athletes placing in the Top 10, led by senior Michael Krsnak crossing the finish line at 25:06.4 to finish first. For Kansas City, senior Cosmas Ayabei placed fourth (25:25.2) to earn First Team All-Summit League honors for the fourth consecutive season. The next best finisher, freshman Kolton Sheldon, placed 13th with a time of 26:11.1 to earn Second Team All-Summit League honors.
On the women's side, North Dakota State finished first (36 points) with four runners placing in the Top 10, while Oakland's Brittini Hutton took first with a time of 21:49.8. To lead the Kangaroos, senior Sara Meiners placed 22nd with a time of 23:29.2, as junior Meg Doss crossed the finish line in 40th with a personal best time of 23:58.3.
Coming up, the Blue & Gold will take part in the NCAA Midwest Regional competition on Friday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m. in Springfield, Mo., hosted by Missouri State.
