The Kangaroos got off to a hot start when it swept all three doubles matches beginning with sophomore Tomas Patino and freshman Conner Edwards 8-2 win at No. 3 over Nathan Greteman and Ben Williams. Juniors Tim Akhmedov and Grant Fleming then clinched the doubles point for the 'Roos with an 8-2 win over Carlos Ramos Salazar and Peter Greteman at No. 1, while junior Abdulrahman Alawadhi and sophomore Cameron Schoenhofer completed the sweep with an 8-5 win over Connor Larson and Anthony Forcucci at No. 2.
The 'Roos continued to roll in singles play, as Patino made quick work of Forcucci at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-1 win and Fleming followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 over Ramos Salazar. Alawadhi then clinched the match for UMKC with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Larson, while Schoenhofer beat Williams at No. 4, 6-3, 6-0.
Junior David Heckler and Akhmedov then completed the sweep for the 'Roos, with Heckler taking down Andrew Lescelius at No. 6, 6-0, 7-5 and Akhmedov beating Nathan Greteman at No. 5, 7-5, 6-1.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Saturday when they host IPFW in a Summit League showdown at the Plaza Tennis Center beginning at 10 a.m.
