(Kansas City, Mo.) - Saturday, the UMKC track and field team wrapped up its weekend on day two of the Varsity Apartments Invitational in Wichita, Kan.
Notable performances on the UMKC women's side included senior Jylian Jaloma placing sixth in the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 10:07.40. This output by the Atchison, Kan. native was the third best performance in the UMKC indoor track and field history.
In the triple jump, Stephany Johnson placed third with a mark of 39-01.75 (11.93). This performance by Johnson was the third best in school indoor history.
At the end of Saturday, the UMKC women finished seventh (21 points) out of 15 events scored.
Similar in day one, junior Ramon Nelson had another solid outing, this time in the shot put as he finished third with a mark of 52-01.75 (15.89). This performance by Nelson was not only the second best in school indoor history, but he now holds three of the top-five best performances on this list.
In the mile run, junior Daniel Mann turned in his best performance of the season by placing third with a personal best time of 4:19.09.
At Saturday's end, the men finished fifth (38 points) out of 16 events scored. Below are the final team rankings of the Varsity Apartments Invitational.
Next Up for the Kangaroos will be the Iowa State Classic hosted by the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday, Feb. 10 as start times have yet to be announced.
This meet will be a national qualifying competition for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 9-10 in Boise, Idaho.
