ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The UMKC men’s soccer team will travel across the state to face Saint Louis in its first exhibition match of the 2017 season on Saturday. Kickoff between the Roos and the Billikens is schedule for 7 p.m. CT.
“We are coming off of three really good days of training and it will be fun to play against someone other than ourselves,” head coach Rick Benben shared. “Saturday’s game will be a great opportunity to battle against an outstanding program and it will be a good experience for us.”
About the Roos
The Roos return 11 starters in the fall to a roster that features three seniors – Chris Betancourt (Weston, Fla.), Eric McWoods (St. Louis, Mo.) and Eddie Howe (St. Louis, Mo.). The 2017 season marks the 20th under the direction of Rick Benben. UMKC boasts a 33-24-4 (.574) record at its home facility and will play the most home matches in a single season at Durwood Soccer Stadium, hosting 11 opponents this season.
About the Billikens
Saint Louis returns 15 student-athletes from last year’s squad. The program’s roster features 11 newcomers, nine of those being freshmen. The Billikens are coming off a season that saw them finish 7-8-3 overall with a 6-2 record in Atlantic 10 Conference play to win the A-10 regular-season title.
UMKC will host neighboring Rockhurst for its final exhibition tune-up on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. CT, before kicking off the regular season at Central Arkansas on Aug. 25.
